Impact of Arsenic on the Cholinesterase Activity of Grasshopper

چکیده
Gesonula punctifrons (Stal,1861) a common acridid of same age group were considered and treated with Arsenic salt. ChE activity was found to be increased between 3 and 6 times in compared to the control with the advancement of doses during the experiment of 96 hours. Such huge increase in the activity was probably due to cholinergic imbalance in the brain. Our present study indicated the conspicuous impact of Arsenic on AChE activity in grasshopper reflecting this enzyme to consider as biomarker of Arsenic pollution. This experiment is an attempt to nurture the almost undisclosed part of AChE activity in Arsenic treated grasshopper.

Serum Acetyl Cholinesterase as a Biomarker of Arsenic Induced Neurotoxicity in Sprague-Dawley Rats
Arsenic is an environmental toxicant, and one of the major mechanisms by which it exerts its toxic effect is through an impairment of cellular respiration by inhibition of various mitochondrial enzymes, and the uncoupling of oxidative phosphorylation. Most toxicity of arsenic results from its ability to interact with sulfhydryl groups of proteins and enzymes, and to substitute phosphorus in a v...
متن کاملChemical Poisoning
ARSENIC poisoning in livestock may be caused by arsenic trioxide (white arsenic), paris green, sodium arsenite, and sodium arsenate. Arsenic has been a common cause of accidental and criminal poisoning of animals because it often is used to kill insects, parasites, weeds, and rodents and as a tonic for animals. Arsenic compounds usually are palatable to animals, especially when they are hungry ...
متن کاملArsenic hyperaccumulation in the Chinese brake fern (Pteris vittata) deters grasshopper (Schistocerca americana) herbivory.
Brake fern, Pteris vittata, not only tolerates arsenic but also hyperaccumulates it in the frond. The hypothesis that arsenic hyperaccumulation in this fern could function as a defense against insect herbivory was tested. Fronds from control and arsenic-treated ferns were presented to nymphs of the grasshopper Schistocerca americana. Feeding damage was recorded by visual observation and quantif...

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of 8 weeks of resistance training (RT) on activity of total and A12 Type of acetyl cholinesterase in Soleus muscles of rats. 16 male wistar rats provided from Razi institute (age: 10 weeks and weight: 172.415±7.090 gr), were randomly divided to 2 groups (Control; n=8 and RT; n=8). Training group carried out 8 weeks (5 session/week) of res...
متن کاملImpact of Fugitive Dust Emission from Bauxite Crushing Industry on Soil Contamination (Case Study: Jajarm Alumina Factory)
Introduction: The origination of dust is often due to the wind erosion process. However dust emissions are sometimes the result of industrial activity during the production process, which is called industrial dust. One of these industries is rock crushing whose raw material is transferred from the mines to the factory. During the process of crushing, smaller pieces are eventually converted. The...
